For anyone who's interested, in case you don't know about this, King's Hospital has a tracker app for detecting the levels of Covid infection in the community. You are reminded to log on daily to fill out whether you have any symptoms or not - I don't always do it daily, but definitely do it at least 3 times a week. If you have no symptoms, it takes less than a minute to do.
The information they provide on the spread or progress of Covid is based on how many people have the app and supply the information, so the more people who do it, the better the information will be. There is an interactive map which shows the level of infection in various areas of the country, latest info on various aspects of the disease (today there's a post on there about whether oestrogen protects against Covid or not, very interesting) as well as a weekly update message from Professor Spector. As of today, they are beginning to notice hotspots developing in various locations, and I find this information valuable, as anyone with co morbidities and particularly anyone receiving cancer treatment will do.I have provided the link below, so if you feel able to do it, please do download it.
Help slow the spread of #COVID19 and identify at risk cases sooner by self-reporting your symptoms daily, even if you feel well 🙏. Download the app covid.joinzoe.com/

Have been contributing to this right from the beginning - they even organised a test for me, based on my responses! A very interesting project to be involved with, I think. Deb
Wow, I didn't know they could do that, organise a test... I have had 3 tests at different times, 2 a the hospital prior to a chemo infusion, and one at a drive in centre a few weeks back...
I just reported a sniffle to them and they showed me how to get a home testing kit, even though I wasn’t a frontline worker, just a ‘volunteer’. Mind you, it took me 10 days before one was available! I don’t have a car, but there were tests available at my nearest drive-in centre.
Ah I see - probably because you were a volunteer then and therefore at more risk. By the time I had my first test a few weeks back at the drive in centre, I qualified under the 'over 65 with symptoms' rule... all tests have given negative results though.
I wasn’t actually a volunteer - I think that was just the easiest section to put me. Glad your tests were negative. The government has probably counted that as 12 tests!
Haha, spot on - 3 tests will definitely have been counted as at least 6, since they count the nasal sample as 1 and the throat as 2, even though its the same swab. They probably count the nasal one as two as well, since its both nostrils, absolute nonsense isn't it...😗😉
Lies, damned lies and statistics, eh? I must have thrown out the calculations badly by sticking the swab up only one nostril. Don’t get me onto the BILLIONS of gloves, counting each one separately....
Oh, don't get me started - outright lies too, they also counted out of date PPE, and that's without counting the ever increasing list of expensive bad decisions and sheer ineptitude ... I have spent most of my time face palming and gaping with incredulity, usually followed by a deal of swearing (good job I live alone) in the last 4 months. I swear the only thing keeping me going is sheer rage... led by donkeys indeed... Actually, Led by Donkeys do some good work, they've have had more than one donation to their crowdfunder off me... otherwise, we're completely powerless to change things, aren't we.
I'm doing this one. I went to Cardiff Ikea yesterday and made me quite excited to have some activity to report on my app, I've had a very quiet time of it!
Oh, I know exactly what you mean - mine is just no, not been anywhere, not done anything for days on end, until I've been to hospital for bloods and a covid test and chemo two days later, then I can report on that! What an exciting life, not...
