Rotterdam regimen (Etoposide and Cisplatin)

Hi Ladies, this is my first post and apologies for it’s length!

I have stage 4 and BRCA gene diagnosed in Feb 2020 which is inoperable.

Had six chemo cycles of Paclitaxal and Carboplatin, and in August went on Niraparib. Saw consultant today who told me that the Niraparib is not working and new aggressive growths are now in liver and lymph glands.

Starting new treatment on 3 December - Rotterdam regimen (Etoposide and Cisplatin), weekly drip and daily tablet.

Has anyone had experience with this treatment and could possibly give me an idea of what to expect with side effects. I know everyone is different! When I went through chemo (3 weekly cycles) I was ok for 3 days followed by 5 days of heavy legs with burning sensations and couldn’t keep them still. Felt weak and fingers and toes numb. Then felt ok until the next cycle.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Liz

I’ve had Cisplatin but not with Etoposide. Cisplatin is similar to Carboplatin and you are given lots of fluids to protect your kidneys. I didn’t lose my hair which was a bonus.

I remember reading some posts in the past from ladies who were having the same regime as you, so I expect they’ll be able to tell you more about the two drugs together.

All the best!

I don’t have experience with this but wanted to wish you luck and virtual hugs. My sense is that nausea can be a problem with this treatment so take all the meds. It’s a good sign you didn’t have a lot of nausea with frontline. Xx

Thank you. Yes I was fortunate not to have nausea with frontline chemo. Although I did suffer with it whilst on Niraparib! xx
