Cancer and Paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration

Reoccurance of clear cell ovarian cancer, chemo sensitive, April 2020. Finished carbo/gem August 2020. Had a horrible time with chemo and strange symptoms. Had so many test and scans and now I'm now being tested for Paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration. Has anyone been diagnosed with this.

Thank you

Sorry you’ve not had a reply yet. I’ve never heard of it and looked it up. It seems to be very rare. Good luck with the testing.

Thank you for your reply it is kind of you. I did guess that replies would be scarce but just wondered if just one other may have been diagnosed.

I'll wait for my results but forgot to ask how long they will take. Never mind, all will be revealed in it's own time.

Thank you again for the reply

Oh ! That’s a new one on me, so sorry I can’t help you, sending positive thoughts and a virtual hug, hope all goes well with the testing and you get a negative result.

Wishing you well

Morning

I was diagnosed with cerebellar ataxia about 2 years before my primary peritoneal cancer displayed itself. The neurologist at the time didn't mention a link even though I'd gone to him paranoid about a brain tumour and explained my family history (BRCA1+, loads of cancer).

When PPC was diagnosed, my first oncologist explained the possible link. All evidence for me indicates that my ataxia was a slow build which is not usually the case with paraneoplastic degeneration from what I was told. I've always wondered if they were linked. Its got worse over time and I do wonder if some of that is nerve damage from chemo.

Very happy to chat offline about it if you want?

Thank you for your reply. I'm so sorry you have PPC, if it's anything like the symptoms I am experiencing, I feel deeply for you, they are not pleasant.

If you are in the UK, I'd love to chat off line to you but I have no idea how to go about it. If you could advise me I will be grateful.

Thank you
