Yes I had some puffy rolls of “ fat” at front of waist. My GP said it was just fat but I thought otherwise.

Similar to most with advanced OC, I had ascites (fluid build up) that starts in the pelvis and then go upwards towards abdomen causing pressures.

Is it intermittent or there all the time?

Intermittent - followed by pain which was continuous.

Not in the legs no; swelling is usually in the abdomen area if its due to OC.

Yep! Not in legs, but felt 8 months pregnant from ascites. That was my major sign that smthg was wrong.

Its an uncomfortable feeling and the leg swelling can be accompanied by neuropathy with loss of feeling and stability. It seems to be rather common and most Oncologists do not seem overly worried by it. My GP who is into Palliative treatment as well told me exercise was best especially walking. Not always easy to do if you are unstable. However just never ever give up and press on to remission. There are medications for fluid retention as well. Make sure your Onc knows what you are going through. Best wishes.

I don’t think I explained myself very well. These are symptoms ahead of seeing a dr and hopefully getting referred for a scan

I got very big around the waist and ribcage--all of my summer dresses were too tight last year. I thought I was just gaining weight because of menopause. I didn't notice any swelling in my legs, but I've always had thick ankles.

I hope you get good news from your doctor. I was lucky--my tumors were borderline, and all my symptoms disappeared as soon as I had surgery. -Lani

Did you have any other symptoms. The swelling feels like fluid retention

I had a lot of symptoms, but I thought they were all caused by separate things. I had sciatic nerve pain, which my doctor thought was caused by age-related "degenerative disk changes" in my spine, seen on X-ray. I had heart palpitations, chest pressure and shortness of breath. A cardiac workup showed that my heart was fine, and they chalked it up to anxiety. I had terrible reflux and some gall bladder symptoms, but I thought it was from gaining weight and foolishly eating coleslaw and raw onions. The idea of ovarian problems never even crossed my mind. The tumors were discovered when I had a CT scan for a suspected kidney stone. After surgery I realized that I had occasionally been getting pain in my lower pelvis when I did things like bending, stretching or turning over in bed suddenly, but it hadn't happened often enough to make me suspicious.

In retrospect, I wish that I had not been so quick to attribute my feelings to getting older--I'm 58, by the way. But hindsight is always 20-20, as they say. When I look back I realize that I had been feeling increasingly unwell for more than two years, so who knows how long the tumors were growing.

I know this is a scary time for you. I'll be thinking about you. Please let us know what you find out from your doctors. The ladies on this site are really helpful and well-informed. --Lani

Hi. Had abdomen ultrasound today and transvaginal ultrasound. No problems found. Did say I have a fatty liver.

That's great news! No, you hadn't mentioned a liver issue. Do they think that was causing some of the symptoms?

Thank you for letting me know. I was wondering how you were. --Lani

The ultrasound showed a fatty liver yesterday. Don’t think it is related to my symptoms.
