Paclitaxel side effect

Hi. I have had 2 cycles of weekly paclitaxel and noticed a dramatic increase in my heart rate. I contacted the chemo helpline, had bloods done and an ecg. All normal, apart from ‘sinus tachycardia’ (normal rhythm, just fast) Has anyone experienced this? This is my 3rd line chemo, platinum resistant. Best wishes to all.

Exact same thing on weekly Taxol. Horrible isnt it cant sleep! Mine was eventually diagnosed after 4 weeks by wearing a24 hr monitor as ectopic tachycardia and I take a beta blocker everyday. It was bad again last week until I had a blood transfusion for anaemia.

I had taxel with carbo every 3 weeks and I never had increased heart rate. Due to start 2nd line treatment in a couple of weeks, staying on the same drugs as platinum sensitive. Best of luck

Yes, I am afraid, it does. Two weeks after the first infusion, I started to loose my hair. All gone. It will grow back.

216 mg which is at 80%.

Its benefits as a treatment outweighs the hair loss, as a side effect. Don't let this upsets you.

Please make sure your Onc does blood tests before each IV infusion as well as BP and weight. Your dosage depends on these being done otherwise you are in danger of being overdosed. Overdose can cause blackouts and falls which are sometimes fatal. Is the increased pulse rate accompanied by sleeplessness - if so that can be expected. Worry the hell out of your Onc and their nurses to make sure you are getting the right dose. Keep going never give up.
