I was told by my oncologist that I wouldn’t, then by the nurses that I would, but I didn’t! x

Hi - I’ve had two Carbo/caelyx infusions so far - 4 weeks apart - I was told I’d lose about 10% of my hair and likely be the only one that noticed. (Unlike with Carbo/toxil.) Most noticible is fatigue and constipation. Blessings!

I was told by the chemo nurse that I may lose my hair with carbo/caelyx.I was offered the cold cap which I had.My hair was good so I'm pleased that I took up the offer.

Hi. I didn’t lose my hair. It may have thinned a bit but that may have been through age rather than carbo/calyx! x

I had 4 infusions and hair was not mentioned and luckily didn't fall out or even thin at all. It was a combination that didn't work for me so I came off it and had taxol when I did lose my hair xx

Hi Cazbird I think you lose your hair when you are on taxol. I was on carbo/taxol & my hair started falling out on the 2nd infusion, ended up completely bald but a year on have a head of curls. Hopefully you won't lose yours but from what the other ladies above said it looks like you won't. Take care Xx

All this conflicting info must be very confusing. I have had two infusions of carbo/caelyx and so far have not noticed any hair thinning 🤞. The written information the hospital gave me said that it was unlikely that there would be serious hair loss but some people experience a little thinning. I think you would be very unlucky to lose all your hair. As a precaution you could take steps not to stress your hair too much. Use mild shampoo and do not rub too much when shampooing or towelling. Also avoid hot blow drying if possible. This helped when I was on carbo taxol and had to stop using cold cap - I did not lose all my hair. I tend to agree with some others that the fatigue is the worst thing and occasional feelings of nausea but no actual vomiting but it's doable. Good luck with your treatment🍀 Jackie x

Maybe thinned. More than bald. Good luck

Exactly the same happened to me. I am just about to have my last of 6 tomorrow and I have a full head of hair but much thinner and longer because of lockdown. Good luck!

You gotta wonder sometimes... I was told by the Macmillan nurse and the consultant I would not lose my hair, though it might thin (carboplatin only). But two nurses on the chemo ward told me I would lose my hair... I didn't panic cos I knew they were wrong, in the main, its paclitaxel that causes complete hair loss, but it is a bit irritating when you get mixed messages. It has thinned somewhat, but not majorly. The worst thing has been not being able to get my streaks done - I've got about 3 inches of brown hair at the top with blonde lower down. I cut it myself, twice, just hacked an inch or so off the length, at the start and end of lockdown, couldn't stand it, so the length's okay, but I am so looking forward to getting the colour done in three and a half weeks time🤗

But consultants arent always right either - my consultant told me airily I wouldn't need to shield if I took Rucaparib, 'other than maybe about 4 weeks when you first start', but the senior chemo nurse, who knows a lot about that drug, was quite categoric - its 3 months. I checked back with the consultant and he (eventually, after lot of waffling about'government guidelines') conceded yes, it 'probably' was that long...

The same confusion happened to me but I didn’t lose my hair. I feel like the growth may have slowed a bit.

I’ve had four rounds of carbo/caelyx so far. I still have my hair but it has thinned.

Hi there. Confusion no more. My onc told me that I'd lose 10% of my hair on Carbo/caelyx - he was right. But it ain't enough for anyone to notice but yourself. It's the caelyx that causes it. Worry no more. Best wishes. Pauline.
