2nd surgery to remove para aortic lymph nodes

Has anyone had surgery to remove para aortic. Lymph nodes?

Hi ... yes, I had surgery in 2018 to remove one para aortic lymph node that was detected by PET scan & CA125 rise - I felt something wasn’t right & requested checkup. The node was about 2-3cms. Surgery was major - incision from diaphragm to pubic bone (like first surgery). Mine was in a tricky spot so had to have specialist liver surgeons to operate (I’m in Melbourne). No further treatment after surgery. Though I have ended up with a 4x3cms incisional abdominal hernia (not painful but looks pretty big). I only found out several months after this surgery that radiation might have been an option, so might be good to discuss pros & cons of surgery vs radiation. Wishing you all the best xx

Yes. Removed at TAH time. Left with mild lymphodema in one leg but had quite a few taken out. It’s a small price to pay and I just wear a support stocking to stop excessive swelling. It goes down overnight so not that noticeable to anyone else but me. 🤞
