Hi there, I’ve been on Olaparib for three weeks now and so far have only experienced mild nausea. However, I do have a very watery mouth some days which is quite unpleasant. Does anyone else have this side effect and is there anything that helps alleviate it?

Hi Denise I have been on olaparib for nearly 3 weeks now. I have not had any side effects as of yet. I hope you get some answers.

Thank you Claire, I’m generally okay, just this mouth watering that is annoying. Hopefully, it’ll settle down at some point. I always panic and think it’s something sinister! I’ve not had the BRCA blood test yet ( still waiting ) but I did have a mutation in my tumour. Are you BRCA positive? I’m stage 3c.

I'm braca neg. I'm on a trial called OCTOVA. I was on taxol for nine months to start finished that in july and had a couple of months off it but one of my tumours started to grow again so got switched to olaparib. Really hope it works. I'm 3c

Hi Claire, wishing you all the best with the Olaparib, I read recently that there have been positive outcomes with it for people without the BRCA mutation or gene as well as those with it.

I read that you have a stoma? I have one too. How do you get on with yours? I really hated having one but it has saved my life, so I am very grateful. I do hope to have a reversal if I can.

Hi Denise I am managing ok with the stoma now. I took me about a year to come to terms with it. I have just had to except that it is part of my life now. It dose restrict me as to were I go on holiday. I really wanted to go traveling round south east Asia again but I just couldn't do it with a stoma so we stick to europe now. They mentioned a revsal to me but I don't think it will happen im on my 3rd reacurrance. How long have you had yours?

Hi Claire, I’ve only had it since September last year, so not long yet. The stoma nurses have been so supportive and kind but I still struggle mentally with it. I think I’m a bit of a wimp tbh!

I think I would stick mainly to holidaying in Europe now too.

I hope the Oliparib prevents any more reoccurrence for you; I’m sorry you’ve had three bouts, that’s very tough.
