Good morning ladies. I hope this may be helpful advice for the many of us who have low neutrophils which often delays treatment. I'm on Carbo/caelyx for first recurrence and have always had low neutrophil counts, it was 1.0 before my second lot of chemo for this recurrence so I only just scraped through with getting my treatment. Anyway after lots of reading and research I've been taking Lions Mane Ultra Strength 50% Beta 1,3/1,6 D Glucon capsules which you can easily buy on the internet. I think its basically a mushroom supplement. I also had chicken liver (which apparently has the highest amount of iron in) on a couple of occasions which resulted in my neutrophils going up to 1.6 and then up to 2.0 four days later. Although protein rich foods such as cheese, yoghurt, nuts etc are good for neutrophils its the 'heam iron' we need which is found in red meet such as lean beef, liver and chicken thighs. Worth a try if you're in the same situation.
bye for now, sticky3006.

Have a good talk to your oncology pharmacist. I was taking supplements and was amazed when she categorically said no to even Vit C and Tumeric.
I started Carbo and Caelyx last Tuesday and went into toxic shock but was eventually restarted at a slower pace. I’m back in hospital again ( fourth time since op in October) with a “ massive” kidney infection and all food is beginning to taste horrible. Hoping for a window of ease at Christmas. Good luck with your neutropenia. KBO
Yes, am continually brushing my teeth and using mouthwash. I’ve found pure orange lollies and keeping fruit in the fridge has been ok. Also tea and coffee awful but hot blackcurrant squash isn’t too bad. It’s like a combination of morning sickness/indigestion and a hangover all rolled into one 😂. Good luck. I’m now half way thankfully x
Hi. I’ve had 2 Carbo/caelyx-third is today. I’m having very low platelets but other bloods just a bit low. So far they’ve bounced back but I suspect will be dangerously low this next time. Good luck everyone. I will have a scan mid January to see if it’s working and I am terrified it might not be because my tumor still hurts. My CA 125 is useless!
