My mom started coughing soon after her 6th cycle of chemo (Taxol + Bevazi). her cervical cancer turned mets to her lungs. After 3 cycle we did pet scan and reports we good (doctor said). Now she started coughing! I went to doctor today and he carelessly said by laughing it might be a side effect or we should wait for another pet scan. He also said if he found that cancer is growing again then no treatment will be given and we will be sent back home. I couldn't stop my tears, i'm just 20 aged and all i have is my mom on this planet.
Can anyone give me a ray of hope so that i can fight strong with my mom. Is really there is no treatment option left if the cancer is growing? Please let me know any information which can save my mom. You can also reach out to me via whatsapp [removed by moderator, please private message member to request contact details].

I urge you to get a second opinion, absolutely NO professional should be laughing at something so serious I guarantee he wouldn't like it if it was his mum!
Can you complain to his boss? It might give him a kick up the arse xxx
You poor lamb, I feel for you. There must be something you can do. The other ladies on here will be able to help you more than I can. They seem to be so knowledgeable in all aspects of treatment and will encourage you to push for a second opinion. I just want to say I'm thinking of you. You're far too young to lose your mum so keep fighting on her behalf.
I am so sorry to hear this; because your mother had cervical cancer rather than ovarian, I have no helpful advice to give in terms of further treatment. I don't know how your health system works in India (maybe private insurance based, not sure) but if you can find another specialist to get another opinion then do so. The doctor's response appears brutally casual under the circumstances, and that's no way to prepare anyone for the possibility that they may have reached the end of the road in terms of treatments.
If it turns out that is the case, then try to make the best of the time you have left with your mother, prepare yourself for the inevitable, and consider what your own options are for your future. It is very hard to lose a parent when you are so very young, and I hope that your mother carries on for a lot longer, with or without further medical treatment; remember that, just because the scans show terminal cancer, you will likely have your mother around for longer even if she is beginning to fail. Medical treatments for advanced cancer don't usually get rid of it, but are intended to give more time, to delay the cancer's advance; but surprisingly, many people with cancer keep living long past the time the doctors expect, even if there are no more medical treatments available.
I don't know if there is such a thing as palliative care where you live, but if there is, access their services and any help/advice that is available. If you don't know whether there is, ask your doctor about it. I wish you time to adjust to the idea of loss, and strength to cope with this difficult situation.
I do not know if you have the money of the ability to get all her records but in Boston, USA there is a cancer center that will review your mother's case all on line and send suggestions of other treatments (if at all possible). BUT the catch is you have to have the agreement of your mother's oncologist to get them the records and potentially if they have any questions, your mother's oncologist will provide answers. If you think you could, the link is here: dana-farber.org/appointment...
Thank you for sharing this information. I gonna straight away collect all my mom's medical records and email it to Dana Farber hospital. Do you have any idea how much it would cost for me to get an second opinion from there?
I think that information is on the link but I remember it being around $500 US. Might be more with what you would have to pay on your end but I don’t think it’s a large amount.
Please get a second opinion- if possible at a major cancer centre. I paid to get a quick appointment with a top consultant in London and it cost £360.00 for the hour- it was worth every penny and I ended up on a clinical trial.
Hi I was told last August there was nothing more they could do for me as my cervical cancer had become incurable I did a bit of research being only 49 at the time and with 2 children the youngest being 10 at the time I wasn't prepared to give up found Oncologica on the Internet contacted them they analyse your tumour from your first biopsy and find out what treatments would work best.. As a result my tumour was high in PD-L1 this enabled me to get on a trial at Christies which shrunk my tumours by initially 40% I go back every 2 months for scans and my tumour continues to shrink I am a totally different person to the one I was 12 months ago. I couldn't recommend Oncologica enough. All the best.
