If another member of the forum has already posted this sad news, please forgive me as I've been 'absent' from keeping up with the postings for some weeks.

Many of you may already know that Chris (Mac-27) passed away in early May. Those who have worked, and 'played', with Chris in her volunteering for Ovacome (as one of our "Survivors Teaching Students" programme), her Patient Rep work for Cancer Research UK-UCL Cancer Trials Centre and just on treatments and at Ovacome Members events, will all have really enjoyed her quirky humour, her insights and perspectives. I am sure I am not the only one who misses chatting with her on both trivial and serious matters.

At last week's meeting of the CRUK-UCL CTC six monthly Trails Steering Committee (its purpose is to oversee all cancer trials in gynae & lung being undertaken between CRUK and UCL), the chairman and committee members requested that Chris's contribution be acknowledged in the Minutes and that the condolenses of the whole committee be sent to Chris's family. Ruth at Ovacome, is doing this on our behalf.

This leaves a gap for a Patient Rep, which Jo's Trust is helping fill, we hope. There is a Training Day for new Patient Reps in the first half of October, so if anyone is interested, please come back to me and I'll check with the co-ordinators if they are still wanting more.

Final words on Chris: I cannot see, touch or talk with you any longer, but your energy lives on - tops up mine when I'm flagging. Thanks, Chris, for so very, very much.

Lesley

So very very sad to hear. A strong inspirational lady who had a wealth of knowledge and will be sadly missed. I remember meeting her at my first Ovacome day and being so impressed by her insightful questions. I also have fond memories of attending the ovacome belly dancing afternoon together and even though she was struggling with fatigue and side effects of treatment she was so determined to have fun.

Please pass on my sincere condolences to her family and friends. A difficult time for you Lesley so thank you for posting. Lots of love Kim x

You truly were inspirational Mac, fly high and spread those teal wings with renewed energy.

Love Purple Iris 💜x

I met Chris at an Ovacome day in London and we had some conversations on the forum. I found her refreshingly honest, very well informed and extremely kind. I am very sad to hear the news that she has died and would like to send my love and condolences to her family and friends.

Like others on the forum I met Chris at an STS event last year and found her to be an inspirational lady who had gone through so much, yet still maintained a positive attitude and retained her wonderful sense of humour.

She will indeed be sadly missed.
