PEACOCC Trial update

A few of you may recall that Chris (Mac-27) and I took on the role of Patients Reps for Cancer Research UK-UCL Cancer Trials Centre for gynae and lung cancer trials. Part of this work is to sit, alongside all those involved in the running of the trial, including the clinicians. Below is the first report from the Trial Management Group (TMG) for this new trial using Pembrolizumab on gynae clear cell carcinoma.

The first meeting of the PEACOCC Trial Management Group was on June 17th 2019. This trial is specifically for patients with advanced, recurrent, gynaecological Clear Cell Cancer. All the necessary processes for screening, treating and monitoring patients are now in place for UCLH. There will be 4 other recruiting sites set-up in the next few months, all spread geographically around England, with one in Scotland, so that patients can be referred by their local treating clinician. Recruitment is currently 7 with a total of 48 patients needed to complete the trial. The message from the Trial Management Group is that if you think this trial could be relevant for you, please talk with your treating clinicians.

Warm wishes to everyone, Lesley

Hello Lesley, I am on second line chemo for stage 4 clear cell. I find out at the end of next month if its working but I'm not hopeful based on other clear cell ladies experiences. I am interested in this trial and will discuss with my oncologist. Should I make any contact with the trial team directly? Tracy

Hi Tracey,

I've been away for a few days so am just catching up, hence the delay.

The consultant leading the research asks each patient discusses the PEACOCC trial (details on this link ctc.ucl.ac.uk/TrialDetails.... with their own "clinical team". PEACOCC is short for PEmbrolizumab in patients with Advanced gynaeCOlogical Clear cell Cancer. This is a phase 2 trial as Pembrolizumab has already passedd all safety and efficacy tests for some skin cancers.

If, by any chance, members of your clinical team, especially the oncologist, are unaware of the trial then hopefully this link will help them and there is a 'Contact' link plus email address. The hospitals set up/being set up to run the trial are UCL, Edinburgh Cancer Centre, Chruchill Hospital, Oxford, Christies in Manchester and Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, Hillingdon.

Good luck and fingers crossed this may help. Warm wishes, Lesley
