Hi Aotters!

This all depends on the surgery itself. Each one can vary wildly according to the patients needs.

My tummy didn't return to its former self as the procedures were many and quite involved. That said, flat tummies are overrated and I focused on being active and eat well. And while I have a little belly, the rest of me is in the best shape of my life!

Those ants are still on the march in my definitely not flat tummy but neither are a problem for me as I am still here 2 years and 6 days after surgery! If you find the secret to solving both, please let me know 😉 all the best for your recovery x

I suppose we are always left with the scars of battle which is better than having the buggers inside of us. For you it is early days yet, gentle walking might help you get back in shape. I wear camisole tops which help to hide the battle scars. The bigger picture is that I am here 12 years down the road.

Always get twinges. 2 years later, I get twinges. Completely freak me out but I have been NED while getting them. Sometimes its mind over matter or knowing your body well enough to know what is "normal" for you (new normal) and what is something new. Wish there was an easier way to know!!!! oxox

It depends on how long the scar is or what they took out. But the gas in your tummy used in the operation will go after a couple of weeks. General lumps and bumps may stay a while longer. It’s a big surgery, so normal to get twinges for a few weeks or months.

You can improve things after 12 weeks with very gentle exercise etc.

I do yoga now and it has transformed my body after 3 very big surgeries. I do 2 classes a week. It’s really improved my tummy shape so maybe teyvtgat when you are fully recovered?

But rest for the first few weeks and months.

Love Nicky x

Thankyou for replying I found it useful to know as I won’t see my specialist for another 4 weeks and I hate to bother them with to many questions

Thankyou everyone I have found your reply’s very helpful and comforting

Mine took 6 months before I stopped having twinges, they weren’t painful enough for meds but stopped me doing certain things like lifting or carrying heavier things. It went flat quite quickly but that could be due to the fact I had to have a Stoma so my eating habits changed dramatically and I lost 4.5 stones in weight. That will teach me to pray to lose weight all my adult life 🙄
