Hi - I have just four weeks left of 18 consecutive weeks of Taxol! Fatigue is real - even after resting but I rest a lot anyways! Have been drinking papaya leaf tea and extract every morning for a month and my platelets are up! Granix booster injections have helped with white count. Hoping other blood counts return to normal SOON after chemo ends and my immune system improves!! Only other concern is what’s causing multiple BMs throughout each day - especially past week. Is it chemo? Granix injections? The papaya tea? Do I just continue to be happy I’m not constipated? Or should I be concerned there are multiple daily BMs? Thank you!!
Weekly Taxol: Hi - I have just four weeks left of... - My Ovacome
Weekly Taxol
Hi Elaine,
I have multiple ‘normal’ bowel movements sometimes during my chemo cycle - as you say it’s better than the alternative - I’ve mentioned it to my team, but they’re just pleased I’m having any BMs at all!! I have had high platelets during this chemo, but no one seems to be able to explain it, but they aren’t worried either.
I had Neulasta to boost my WBC for the first time last cycle and it certainly made a difference to my fatigue level. I haven’t tried papaya tea, but a large G & T seem so to help me!!
Best wishes to you, Ali x
I’ve just recently started to experience the same, even during the night. But where’s it it all coming from I wonder? It’s certainly not diarrhoea nor is it what I call loose motions. Not had it before it must be this Cisplatin / Gem.
Also suffering from night time calls of nature! It’s blimming annoying! Who wants to be doing that at 2am when they should be asleep? Not me...just got to get my body to stop doing it. I think I need to change the timing of my laxatives to see if I can reset my clock.
I don't take the laxatives because I was rubbish at it, lurching from one extreme to the other first line so gave them up after the first cycle. I have one prune and one fresh fig in the morning until I'm happy that there's no danger of constipation and then nothing else. But I did this on weekly Taxol too and didn't have all these extra movements, and why at nighttime? There seems a lot of it too.
Hi - what is G & T?? The Granix shot has helped boost my WBC - and I suppose my fatigue could be worse without it. Surprised after resting to still feel very fatigued most times. Hoping the blood transfusion helps get me through next 4 weekly chemo treatments!! Thanks for your response!! Bless you!
G and T? Gin and tonic - I probably shouldn’t, but hey it can’t be any more poisonous tan the rest of the stuff I take!
Carbo/Caelyx just finished now, just waiting for saline, then off home for a snooze. I hope the transfusion works.
Best wishes, Ali x
So pleased you posted this! Am on three weekly Carbo/Taxol, but also having multiple movements at night, early morning etc. And wondering where it's all coming from, so reassuring I'm not th only one and the med staff seem unconcerned! Also managing to put on weight, which seems nuts, probably as I go off food the chemo week then makeup for it by eating non- stop the good weeks!
Are you taking any anti sickness medication?. I know metachlopamide can cause more bowel movements. Morag
Hi - every third week I get carbo/Taxol - and then I take Zofran for two days which is for nausea. The multiple BMs occur the other weeks with just Taxol. Sure hope things settle and there is some normalcy after 4 remaining chemo treatments. They want me to get blood transfusion end of this week because of anemia. Hoping that helps with energy too. Thank you all for your input. Blessings to each of you!
Multiples over none any day 👍😉. Xx. Maus
Hi Elaine, I would settle for a few bowel movements no problem, we all react different to treatment. Had radiotherapy in the summer and I got constipated instead of the opposite. It seems this can also happen. I wish you well with the remainder of your treatment
