Can I stop worrying now?

Hi, following an ultrasound that showed a suspicious cyst I’ve just been told that the recent mri I had shows that my ovaries are normal. Unfortunately I haven’t seen the full report so that all I have to go on so that’s all I know until I get the letter.

Can I stop worrying now or is it sometimes missed on mri? I’m really going to push for it all to be taken out anyway due to family history and the increasing pain I’m getting from the cyst but I’m not sure how long that will take

Thanks for all the help and support I’ve had so far xx

That’s really encouraging and much better than a poke in the eye ! It would be good for them to explain so that you are absolutely clear...they owe you that surely xx

Hi, It does sound encouraging as Lyndy said , I would go and have it out if this will give you peace of mind.

Arfter you have had the full report if you still feel uneasy go for a second opinion..Take care Lorraine xx

When they said that the MRI showed that your ovaries are normal, does that mean that the cyst has gone? Or that it's not a complex cyst? Just a simple one that many women have and often disappears of its own accord?

If it's gone, then obviously no need for an op. If it's still there, I think, given your pain and family history, I'd ask for at least some regular monitoring to see if there are any changes. Will you have a follow-up appointment to discuss results? Your consultant's secretary may be able to arrange one or a phone call to put your mind to rest. I don't think they'd describe a complex cyst as 'normal'. An MRI is 2 steps up from an ultra-sound. They don't use the word 'normal' lightly. Sounds like good news to me!

That’s all I was told unfortunately. It was his secretary I was speaking to and that’s all she knew. I can’t see how it’s suddenly gone as it’s been there for 12 months and grown and changed from simple to complex in that time.

I think if I haven’t heard anything next week I’ll call and ask for a bit more detail x

If you are still experiencing pain and have a strong family risk then I don’t blame you for wanting surgery if it minimises that risk.

Prior to surgery I was told I didn’t have cancer and I was told that cyst on my liver was benign. I’d had ultrasound, CT scan and subsequent MRI. After surgery I was told that It looked worse than had been reported on the scans and the benign cyst on my liver was actually a cancerous tumour that had spread to my diaphragm.
