I’m not sure if best to do new post or reply to my old one to update sorry!
I had a private scan this afternoon as GP said he’d refer me urgently but it’s 2 week wait probably and didn’t think I could cope with that so paid £365 for Ultrasound. Consultant was very good and checked kidneys too as had pain in them in the last few weeks.
So he says I have a 5cm simple cyst, all looks fine, clear fluid etc Everything else looks normal. Surprised by all my symptoms and says this shouldn’t have caused a bleed so referred me to Gynaecologist and I have stayed private as could get appointment next Thursday rather than 6 weeks on NHS.
I feel so much better than I did and justified in my worry! Still have concerns and hoping the consultant recommends surgery to remove cysts as causing issues but for now very much relieved that looking more unlikely for cancer. Gynaecologist may be able to shed some light on symptoms!
Any tips or questions I should ask the consultant I see next week are appreciated?! I might phone Anna too for her thoughts.
You ladies are an inspiration, thank you so much for helping, supporting and advising me when you have so much going on yourselves. I’ll hang around a bit if that’s ok as still not 100% happy and symptoms are still a pain!

Thanks Lily-Anne that’s what I’m going to push for. Although I feel a massive weight has been lifted the symptoms have been going on for too long, I’m very uncomfortable and still have a bad feeling xx
Glad you got the scan and fingers crossed your appointment with gynaecologist goes well and you can get the cyst removed!
I would ask how long histology takes to come back and whether they have a long waiting list for surgery too and if so do a bit of research as to which hospital has the best reputation and waiting times locally unless you have private health insurance of course x
Well done on having the scan, peace of mind is priceless. If I was you I’d definitely have the cyst removed if possible, cysts can sometimes turn out to be more than appearances initially show. Let us know how the gynae appointment goes and course you can stay with us. Good luck lovely ❤️Xx Jane
Thanks Jane Feel so much better, so good to take control and do something! Even if cyst is dodgy it is small and contained so less anxious about it generally. Feeling positive I can push for surgery as causing me so many issues and still concerned re bleed and symptoms xx
Hi, if I remember without checking back, you're the lady with family history? in which case I'd be pushing to have whatever you can removed! So glad you've got some help at last but awful you've had to pay for it.
ps I had a simple cyst coming and going for years and it obviously turned nasty at some point. Wish I'd had the damn thing removed years ago but no one suggested it at the time and they assured me it was no problem. Sheesh...hindsights a wonderful thing eh!
When my sister was going to have a “simple cyst” removed during the op it exploded which then made them realise it wasn’t as simple as they thought, so they sent it off for a biopsy, when the biopsy came back it was then they realised it was cancer xx so yes agree with Lily-Anne defo get a biopsy to be sure x x
Definitely push very hard to have it removed. I also had a “ simple” cyst which , when it was removed , was a borderline tumour. Mine was huge , 15 cm , and if that had burst I might not be here now.
