Hi Julie, hopefully the medical staff are on your case & have a plan. Until you know something for definite, try not to worry. This is a forum for ladies with Ovarian Cancer....would you be better on a different site? Eg. Pulmonary. Best wishes, Linda

Hi Julia and All, I am a nurse, and was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer (with malignant pulmonary effusions) in December of 2017. Since then, I have completed 9 weeks of carboplatin and abraxane, followed by extensive abdominal debulking surgery, and 9 more weeks of the same chemo. My recent CT scan (in August) was great in that it had no visible tumors, but I also have a small nodule on my lung that is a new finding. Since ovarian cancer can spread to the lungs (and I have not had pneumonia), I am assuming that this is possibly what the nodule is, and that it has been walled off there. The radiologist and my gyne oncologist were not excited by this finding, which is different than finding an active tumor. It will just be monitored for changes on future scans. I have continued to have fluid in my chest cavity over the months. It is steadily decreasing both with having it drained, and from the effects of chemo. For those of us who have stage IV that is in the chest cavity, pulmonary involvement can definitely be part of the picture. Nodules can also certainly be related to pneumonia, when bacteria can be walled off. Lymph nodes can enlarge with bacteria from pneumonia as well. I would agree that a consult with a pulmonary doc is most likely needed (and would probably be ordered after testing) to sort things out at that point. Since it's been a number of months since you wrote this, I am hoping that you have had this problem resolved. Take care! Maureen
