Hi everyone, feeling a little scared and apprehensive. I am having a bilateral ovary, fallopian tube removal and and have opted for womb as well, surgery is on Tuesday 10th. It has all happened so quickly that I think I am only just trying to get my head around it all. I am 52 and had a benign bladder tumour removed in Jan this year. As part of the work up I had a CT scan which showed an ovarian cyst. I was told nothing to worry about ( and I didn't tbh) but they would check with an pelvic ultrasound in Feb. My cyst was now bilateral and they were refering to the Gynae team. Then it became very quick, an appointment within days, told I needed ovary/tubes taken out and she was fast tracking which meant I had a date for surgery within two weeks. They have been very careful not to say the word cancer, but I'm guessing that is a possibility.
My scan showed bilateral 5cm cysts, one with septations and the other with a papillary projection. My Ca125 was 19 which is a relief but I understand that it isnt a 100% predictor of cancer. I feel so well, just struggling to get my head around it all.

Hi - you have been lucky to find this site so quickly because there's so much advice and support here for those suffering with cancer but let's hope you're in the proverbial storm in a teacup and good news is imminent. Breathing well is very important especially if your air is fresh locally! Keep strong and keep us informed, Gina xx
Hi, I so hope it a storm in a teacup!! I just dont know quite what to think anymore. I was told 4 days before xmas that I had bladder cancer, and it wasn't until the tumour was removed that they found it was an extremly rare benign tumour (less than 1% of all cases) - so having being told it was cancer and an ovarian cyst that was nothing to worry about, I find myself with two now ovarian cysts. I had mixed feelings when I saw the Gynae Consultant when I found out she was the Oncology Gynae Consultant. I guess I cant quite bring myself to believe that I will lucky enough twice.
The does seem very overwhelming, but remarkable that your team has jumped on it, while you feel so well.
If it is Ovarian Cancer, they may have caught it in the early stages, as most of us were feeling totally fine until we suddenly fell ill, only to find that the cancer had spread from our ovaries to cover the inside if our entire abdomen.
So, take Nancy's advice, drink plenty of fluids, eat lots of veggies and whatever you can to keep your weight up before surgery and take this one day at a time.
It sounds as if your medical team are not leaving anything to chance, which is good, but hopefully the cysts will be just that, I really hope so. Wishing you so much luck for Tuesday and do all the things mentioned above to keep yourself from getting too anxious in the meantime. Let us know how it goes.
Good luck for next Tuesday! God willing, all will go smoothly. You're very fortunate that the medical and surgical team have fast tracked you. The quicker the operation is done, the sooner you will start to recover!
It may be extremely overwhelming for you at the moment, but many of us here, have been through similar procedures and are thankful with the results.
Keep strong and optimistic! Trust your doctors as they are ultimately responsibile for your well-being.
Hi Berrywood, good luck with your surgery. It usually takes a week to get pathology back. Don't stress I'm sure your in good hands. I don't know what my original ca125 results were just know after 1 round of chemo was 10. 4 yrs later I'm a 5,6. Normal is 0-30. Best wishes for a great outcome and if not good news well you have us all on your side. ❤Liz
Thank you for all your positive thoughts and support. Surgery went well, TAH, BSO and omentum removed as well. Just quietly recovering, waiting for the results.
