HI. I am getting tummy and back pain and has come on very quickly over the weekend. It feels very much like last year dec 17 the month before my op. I am 3c OC and finished chemo in June. I was due my 3 month check up on Thursday but the nurse has cancelled it cus onc is off sick. I'mnot sure what to do should I go to my GP tomorrow or phone the nurse at clatterbridge . Any advice much appreciated

Claire

Hi Claire,

Do whatever you have to do to ease your mind and the speediest option.

Probably nothing, but no sense in sitting worrying and being too polite to bother anyone.

If it were me I would phone the nurse at Clatterbridge, but I would just say to you, I have horrendous worrying pains just before a check up, then when I am told I am o.k., it all goes away, been the same over 3 years.

However, if you are really worried, ring your nurse, Im sure you will be fitted in,

Love, Carole xxx

Hi Claire...this is not an expert opinion but I think I would ring the nurse because they understand your position and how worried you will be.

Don’t be afraid to make a fuss...you deserve to be seen quickly...hopefully they can put your mind at rest xx Lyndy

Thanks Lundy when the nurse cancelled my appointment on Friday she said I might be able to see another doctor later in the month. I said yes I will see anybody. You just don't know what to do for best. I havnt got a clue who is the best doctor to see. Claire x

Sorry spelt your name wrong x

I agree with what Carole says about anxiety pains. This has literally just happened to me over Christmas and the new year. I was convinced I was in trouble, but when I got my ca125 results last week which weren’t just stable but had actually gone down even further, the pains disappeared!!

That said though you should get it checked out to be in the safe side

Hi Claire,

I have had stomach discomforts and have felt bloated for the last couple of weeks. Although I am due for a scan on 16th, I phoned my CNS on Friday and within 5 minutes she had arranged for me to go in tomorrow for an ultrasound and chat with my oncologist to rule any ascites out. I did say that it could be due to the excesses of the season, but she said that it was best to check it out. I’m more worried that it may be nothing and that I am wasting their time, but for our own peace of mind I think it’s always sensible to chat to someone who can put our minds at rest or action investigations if necessary.

It could, of course, be a symptom of stress and worry - but to allay your fears, phone your team for a chat just to be on the safe side.

I hope all is well, Ali x

Lots of good advice already.

Just a thought to wonder whether this might be something to do with bowel? Sounds like my symptoms beforehand. I ended up going to A&E (27th Dec so no-one else around).

Good luck x

I have ended up colostomy bag after surgery and that seems ok. Most of my pain is on right side. Thanks for advice tho. Going to the doctor's shortly see if they come up with anything

Most oncologist's have partners if you call nurse back someone else could probably write the orders. So your tests won't be delayed. It may put your mind at ease. Best wishes for a great outcome. Liz

I would call secretary and ask for emergency appointment as you have persistent symptoms.

Good luck

sounds a bit like I was at one time...if you trust your GP I should be very clear with him/her and say you want/need to see an oncologist urgently......let us know the outcome...love Chris xx

Phoned clatterbridge Monday. The nurse said she would get back to me today after speaking to another onc. Still no call from her. I know people and staff try there best but when they say they will call and don't really p*** me off. I am going to insist I get an appointment.
