Just to let everyone know how I got on with complaints at my hospital I ask for a meeting with my consultant and head of onocolgy and head of pals the meeting was recorded.
Back in April last year I was old by. My consultant after a scan that my cancer was clear with this I was shocked so I went back the next day for a second opinion just to make sure and the oncology nurse checked with another doctor to say the same ,
The next appointment was with my consultant when I saw her I handed her a benefits letter for renewal And the letter a said if I had any changes she replied with what I was told by the other doctor saying clear but my own consultant said the cancer is still there and that its stable and to carry on with my benefits.
At the meeting I mention all what was said by the the other consultant my consultant there was a mistake made as the other consultant read everything of the notes from the radiologist scan report and they are not fully in touch with the patient so he read it out wrong for me my consultant told me he was very sorry and to make sure he does not do it again he has been sent on a proper training course and I am only to see my consultant of which she could not apologise enough also they sent me a recording of the meeting so if I wanted to go further I could but I feel that a lesson has been learnt here and it's to make sure no body else goes through this experience
