Caelyx tiredness

I think that there are a number of ladies who have just started Caelyx in the last month.

Just wondering how you are all getting on with this regime?

Is it just me or are you all REALLY tired most of the time? I have 1.5 days where I felt ok but the rest am so tired. I know I have a cold/cough to add insult to injury but.......

Hope everyone doing well

Tx

hi Teresa

I had 1st dose of Caelyx 3 weeks ago and I have extreme tiredness too, I did have to start Zomorph tablets at around the same time for abdominal pain and I'm not sure how much of the tiredness is down to them.

I felt sick for first few days even with post chemo meds, that eased but I still haven't got much of an appetite

How many Caelyx have you had?

Best wishes

Gill

Hi Gill

First dose on 23rd Nov. Sickness controlled by metclopromide. Had one day last week when I actually felt well, but it didn’t last. I was hoping that the tiredness would wear off during the month?

Tx

Hi Tx, I'm a expert on Caelyx I had 6 dose for 3rd line treatment and yes had most of the side effects, rush, blisters and my toe nails turned black and lost a couple BUT I did finished the 6 rounds, with the help of my oncologist She had me on steroid cream for the blisters and plenty of moisturizing cream for the rush, as for being tired I think all chemo effect us in that way be kind to yourself and take it easy.

I've now just finished 8 rounds of carbo/caelyx as 5th line of treatment with good results and this time had hardly any side effect I managed it quite well.

Caelyx seems to be showing good results, like all chemo it's not suitable for everyone so I hope it turns out to be the one for you. Take care and Merry Christmas ..Lorraine xx

Hi Teresa,

Yes I'm one of those ladies,

I've found it hard energy wise, fatigue is immense, though I think it was carbo/ plat towards the end.

Hard to tell for me though as I've had an infection, which has been horrible. So was hoping that's been making me unwell and not so much the caeylx!

I hope you are feeling better just in time for your next one. Definitely allow your body more down time xxx

I've had one cycle, second today. I was shattered the first week but then not too bad. I've had bad headaches and as they subsided stomach cramps and gas. Ive coined a phrase.....always something! I am finding it doable. I have carbo too. I hope the fatigue settles down for you x

Hello Teresa, this is the exact question my mum asked me to ask you ladies, and lo and behold I see your post this morning!

She says she wakes up tired but also has trouble sleeping at night and has bad indigestion and burping. In the evening she also feels sick.

Are there any goods or supplements that are good to combat tiredness? I was reading a post about papaya/pawpaw that is supposedly good for platelets but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for tiredness. I read that co enzyme Q10 is good so I got those tablets but they are yet to work.

I hope you all do well on this chemo x

Hi, yes I too had alot of tiredness. It’s normal, as your body is being pumelled from all directions. Allow yourself to rest when you really need it and done gentle exercise will also help. It feels counter-intuitive, but exercise actually helps with fatigue and you will start to feel better.

Are you eating good good and putting enough nutrition into your body too? This can make a big difference. I found BOSWELLIA SERRATA made a difference. You can buy it online or at Holland and Barratt.

I hope you feel better soon.

Love Nicky x
