Hi all, this is my first post but have been reading all your posts for a while now. Learnt of my ovarian cancer in may 2017 and had my last chemo on 25th of October 2017. Scan was in 6th of November, which I was hoping would confirm NED! Spoke to Macmillan nurse on Monday and asked for results, she said they were pleased as all visible signed of cancer was removed in surgery and chemo had worked very well, BUT there is a nodule in my lung,! She said it could be nothing but now I'm terrified.... this nodule has never shown in previous scans! Anyone had similar so soon after finishing chemotherapy? Xxx

Hi Vanessa and welcome to the group although I'm sorry you find yourself here and that you've been through what you have already. Although I can't offer you specific advice (I'm sure many others will), I would take some comfort in the positives the Mac nurse told you...I'm assuming you have a follow up with your Onc to discuss next steps? So until then, try and relax your mind a little (easier said then done i know) and try not to allow yourself to worry about something until you need to...thinking of you hun. Jemima xx

Hi Vanessa

I also have lung nodules but otherwise NED. While I don’t want to dismiss them because clearly they can be serious.... mine don’t do anything and my Onc told me that people live with them for years...they can be just a collection of dead cells.

Since you are doing well with the rest of your treatment I would suggest that this is a good sign. My Onc also said that the CT team would have asked for the nodules to be investigated if they were at all concerned and they didn’t despite the nodules sitting there on several scans.

Your CA125 is a better measure of how things are going.

Wishing you all the best xx Lyndy

Hi lovely and welcome to the family,

Lots of people get ‘nodules’ on their lungs some are told it’s something others are told it’s scarring from chemo so until you speak to your oncologist please try not to worry yourself too much. The more you worry the more you’ll make yourself sick as I say to my special person the results are what they’ll be we just have to work with it. When she was first diagnosed she was told 6 months with chemo was all the time she had left we all felt like they’d put a sell by date on her she’s made 3 years so far in March and still going she has a couple of ‘nodules’ on her lungs and they don’t change with each scan so although we’re aware it’s not a concern. She’s BRCA negative too but has lots of options available for her still she’s just finished 3rd line treatment and is currently on Niraparib which is a Parp inhibitor so we just have to wait and see what happens from here on xxx

Hi Vanessa and welcome to our gang though I’m sorry you’ve had to join us

I concur with the other ladies, try not to worry about the nodule until you have spoken with your oncology team, I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to discuss this in much more detail with you. You’ve had really good news with your surgery and chemo, the nodule is potentiall nothing to worry about so go with the good stuff.

Sending big hugs and love ❤️Xx Jane

Hi Vanessa, as usual the ladies are giving you some good advice I know is easy to say try not to worry we all do it's only human.

You have had good news from your nurse and that is a positive and a good thing that they are going to look at the nodule , I think that is a very responsible treatment plain by your team.

Keep your sprites up take care Lorraine xx

Vanessa, after surgery and chemo I had multiple "nodules", which had not originally been detected, show up on my scan. Seven months after TAH, I had my colostomy reversed and the doctor biopsied all SIX nodules which turned out to be dead clumps of cancer cells. So yes, it's possible to have non cancerous nodules appear after treatment. I am currently 16 months NED.

Hi Vanessa-

I also was NED and a CT scan showed activity/nodule on my lung. I repeated 3 months later and it disappeared. I was having a bit of shortness of breath and it was assumed to be an infection that cleared at the next scan. try to be positive.
