Hi

I'll be honest..... its harsher than carboplatin (I'm allergic) but totally doable ( I have been on this for both recurrences. I suffered more fatigue and nausea with cisplatin so make sure that you get your anti-sickness meds sorted. Don't put up with nausea, you don't have to. If necessary do what I did and stick up for yourself, I ended up on cyclizine which was the only thing that worked for me whilst on Cisplatin. Wishing you well. Kathyxx

Fris, I've had cisplatin directly into my abdomen-- (intraperitoneal). Honestly, after having 4 months of carbo/taxol it didn't seem any worse, other than dehydration problems which were due to stoma. My eyes became very dry and sensitive to light. Other than that it felt like Carbo/Taxol to me. I think cumulative burden is what makes any chemo seem more harsh. I'm now 13 months in remission. Do not let FEAR make you sicker! I was given antihistamines, steroids and anti emetics before every chemo infusion. They ALL worked brilliantly! You will be OK. :)

Like Tesla I had Cisplatin via IP, yes there are side effects but you can keep your head well above them. Take the medications prescribed, drink a lot of water (I grated fresh ginger or squeezed fresh lemon in mine to improve the flavour), I also drank ginger tea all day, walk as often as you can and drink even more water! If you are incredibly fatigued, just rest, eat what you can, when you can and drink more water! Acupuncture also helped me immensely - and now, 4 months post chemo thankfully it is just a memory and life is continuing in the new normal! Good luck with your treatment and try not to worry too much xx
