Hi lovelies
Hope you're all well just an info sheet for you to read xxx
Hi Callmemum, thanks its gives us all an insight to this new drug. Take care Cindyxx
Thanks for sharing. Has your special person accessed Niraparib through the compassionate access scheme?
Thank you for the info. My Onco has said I can have Niraparib if I am still Platinum sensitive at the end of my present chemo (Carbo and Caelyx) As my chemo will end three months later than originally planned and she had told me it wasn't paid for by the NHS, I was concerned that the funding may have run out by the time I could have it. However, she says it will be fine. I'm keeping my 🤞 fingers crossed......
Hope your Special Person does well on Niraparib.
Love to you both, Solange 😊
Hi Solange, I am glad you will be offered Niraparib. Did your onc explained who is funding it if the NHS isn't?
I have found onc only tell you half the story it's like trying to squeeze blood from a stone. I go in to my meetings believing all my questions will be answered & come out more confused. I just end up adding more questions to my list to be answered next time. Take care Cindtxx
No, she didn't say, other than it's not on the NHS. So next appointment, when I said I was worried I would lose the chance to try it as my Chemo wouldn't now finish until December and I was afraid the funding would be gone, she just said it would be fine. Still a bit evasive so we didn't pursue it. I can't moan though, she's much more open and answers questions far more than my old Onco. I think I'm lucky to have her.
Hope things go well for you. Love, Solange 😊
Thanks for posting this. The side effects seem a bit scary, but I guess similar to chemo. Has anyone on the drug experienced any of these, I would be very interested to know?
I do hope your special person gets it and does well on it CallMeMum. Xx
Thank you for sharing and hoping for a good result for you.
Morning ladies I started on this a week ago and so far so good. It's just three capsules once a day so pretty easy to remember. My oncologist will monitor me fortnightly at first then monthly and doesn't want to scan for four months so I am pretty happy with that. Hopefully it's available to all suitable soon .
Hi Callmemum, Niraparib sounds very interesting I did ask my oncologist but it's not been approved here yet. Glad to hear yor special person will able to have Niraparib.
Sending my heart felt best wishes to you both Lorraine xx
