Chemo restarted

Well just 4 weeks after my bowel perforation following chemo 2, my treatment has re-started. Still feeling weak from surgery but all medical signs are good so treatment went ahead. Will have to have a course of injections from day 5 post treatment for 5 days gscf to boost white cell count due to previous sepsis following surgery. Fingers crossed all goes well this time. Treatment plan revised, now 4 chemo sessions, ct scan review and then possible surgery. I do feel better that treatment has restarted but very apprehensive.

Thank you - I am hoping it will be plain sailing now after my set back. I was having real problems with my bowels from before diagnosis so let's hope it will be a bit less painful now.

Hi Eriksendi, just make sure they keep a very good eye on you. You clearly have a sensitive bowel & hopefully they keep it monitored as your chemo carries on. Please keep us up dated with your progress. Take care Cindyxx

I now have a permanent stoma as a result of the em surgery. They are not sure what went either a spot of cancer or a diverticula r pocket. They have not repaired just by passed the area to get me out of trouble. All working ok at the moment. I had IBS problems for many years and have had a diverticula r burst before that luckily healed itself last time. To be honest, I was shocked and unprepared but now it has taken a worry away at the moment.

Hi Diane.

Sorry to hear about your bowel op but so glad for you it was treated. Of course, a stoma is something no-one wants but it is heartening to hear how many have them and cope amazingly; my personal trainer has one!!!

You have been through a horrible and worrying time but hopefully there is now light at the end of the tunnel. My own brush with OC was nearly 30 years ago and on the better days during recovery I would try to tell myself all is going to be fine so just try to think of this as R and R (very hard know!!!). It is the 'spa' absolutely no-one, but a masochist would visit.

Wishing you all the very best for your next round of treatment.

Catherine x

You've been on a tough road, but you will get stronger and come out on top. Everyone's journey with this always seems to be a little different. I had a lot of stomach wash chemo with the IV chemo. It causes a lot of stomach issues. Mostly constipated and I have a lymphocele up against my bladder it has to get drained every 2 months. It's a problem because as it fills it leaves little room for my bladder. Crazy I know. Keep up the good fight you will be fine. Best wishes, Liz

Thank you. It does help to know that others have complications and manage to get through them. I hope the rest of your treatment goes well too x x
