Hi Most people I am aware of have 3 monthly check ups following an op and chemo. Do you know what stage you were at diagnosis and what chemo did you have? Did you have a CT after completion of chemo? xx Kathy xx

I was stage3c, 6 rounds of carbo/taxol and debulking surgery in November last year, last ct scan was in late January , don't understand why I've gone straight to 6 month check up? Thank you for replying xx

Hi I would definitely question why you went straight to 6 months check ups. I've certainly not heard of that before. I had 3 monthly check up for (from memory) 2 years, then onto 6 monthly. I hope you get this resolved. If you don't get a satisfactory answer speak with Patient Liaison at your hospital and get them to look into it for you. Best wishes. Kathy xx

Hi lovely and welcome,

I would question why they've gone from treatment straight to 6 month check ups usually the process is treatment 3 month check ups eventually upped to 6 months. On a positive note being BRACA positive you have more treatment options for the future should you ever have a reoccurrence xxx

I am exactly that-BRCA1, stage 3C. NED for 18 months & just moved to 4 monthly blood test for CA125. It was 3 monthly before, your GP may be able to arrange that

Thank you , will give docs a ring x

Three years on, I'm still having 3-monthly checkups. I find it quite reassuring and have become very fond of my onc!

Its strange that you've been disharged. You haven't said what stage your cancer was found at. I would have thought, that you should be seen even on a 6 monthly basis and still remaining NED until you reach 5 years.

I was seen by my surgeon 3 weeks after my surgery and discharged from his care then as I had been transferred to the care of the oncologist. I am stage 3b.

I really don't understand why your oncologist has discharged you when you have had chemo. You had an advanced cancer diagnosis and there is so much uncertainty surrounding this disease. I too was NED following surgery and chemo back in 2013. 8 months later though, i had a recurrence. When you say your under the care of the surgeon, is this the gynae surgeon or a breast surgeon? Are you in the UK?

I would definitely be questioning the decision to discharge you. Certainly never been mentioned by any ladies on this site since I've been a member over the last 4 years. Ann x

Hi, rang the nurse yesterday, their policy is 6 monthly check ups but if you are at all worried you can contact them, I see the oncology surgeon in august so will know more about what happens next after that, I'm all new to this, so have not questioned anything, but as feel ok at the moment will wait and see, also don't know anyone who has had Oc , the consultant I was under said she didn't want to see me again unless it was out shopping(lol) then I was sent an appointment to see the surgeon, nothing else !! I live in Kent , don't want to worry myself as trying to get myself back to some form of normality thank you for helping x
