Osteoporosis :(: Hi guys this isn't ovarian... - My Ovacome
Osteoporosis :(
Hi I have osteoporosis too. My mum had it and eventually died.... it was my greatest fear to also have it. So I had a dexa scan and yep I have it!! Running alongside stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. At the moment I have 4 fractures in my spine ..oncologist spotted them. I could have them cemented but I said no. I manage really well..Yes I get backache but it's not too bad. I am still doing the things I did except I cannot go to the gym or run..my favourite things but walk as much as time allows.
I also have Dermatomyositis which is a pain but only appears when cancer is evident.
I take a bone tablet twice a day I choose your not gave anything else. Occasionally I have ibroprofen but not often. I am 57 and got diagnosed 2012 with Osteoporosis. I know I won't end up like my mum because of my cancer. Had MRI to confirm it all.
Thank you for replying to me I'm stage 4 ovarian to lol. I'm not sure what my treatment is yet there referring me to a rhmetologist (spelt wrong) just seems like it's one thing after another at the mo x
Hi...yes I also have osteoporosis following chemo..apparently this is common. I take calcium pills and a bisphosphonate weekly (spelling?). I am now doing resistance exercise to encourage more bone strength. You can do more than you think if careful xx
I have low magnesium and read that this contributes to bone loss.
I don't have any experience personally of osteoporosis but just wanted to wish you well, you have lots on your plate and I hope you get some relief soon ❤️Xx Jane
I have it too and have lost 3 inches. I think the cause was a combination of chemotherapy and steroids. I am on calcium and alendronic acid. Which seems to have stopped it getting worse as far as I know. It does affect my mobility and give me pain. So I don't know what is old age, osteoporosis or ovarian cancer! Never mind just make the most of every day, that is my motto.
