Letrozole: Anybody been on this drug need advice... - My Ovacome
Letrozole
Hi, I started on this in Dec after completing carbo / Taxol xx
Mines is cause cancer back just finished carbo taxol in Feb to soon for more chemo are they working for you how you been feeling on them xxx
I was told they keep the disease sleepy / stable. My disease was stable after chemo according to my CT scan but after my 5th carbo/Calaeyx my ca125 started to rise I had a scan and it showed no growth, still stable I completed my 6th and final cycle (Dec 13th 2016) and started Letrozole the day after. I've been on it for 5 months it's been ok, I do get side effects such as bit of weight gain, wrist pain, acid and tiredness etc. I can still work full time still and run 2/3 times a week. I've found it okay way easier than any chemo.
My ca125 has still continued to rise, it was 598 after my final chemo and last week was showing 1450 I had a scan in Feb and in April and both showed no change my disease is still stable, I'm due a scan in June and wonder if this will show something? Or it could just be the letrozole and its effect on me?
When do you start these? Xx
Why did you start on it so quick and did it help you xx
My oncologist said that I needed to start it immediatly as my numbers were risen as I ended chemo and because the scan showed stability she felt getting started would prevent a quick relapse. It's been almost six months so I guess she was right 😀 I do hope the side effects are minimal for you xx
Hi Friskot12,
I was put on Letrozole in October 2015 and was taken off it recently after abt. 15 months on it. At this point CT showed an incy wincy bit of growth in one area and stable still in another area. The issue was not the growth but where it was close up to my bowel, so chemo was recommended and which I started a week ago. It's early days but give me Letrozole any time; I did have some intermittent arthralgia although didn't need any pain relief. I would go on it again (or other AI's). My cells are strongly and diffusely oestrogen positive/progesterone negative.
Best wishes.
Gwen
I was on it for three months and for the duration, I felt sicker and sicker every week. First weakness and flu like symptoms, then rapid hair loss (thinning to the point of balding), then joint pains, shortness of breath, disorientation and finally cluster migraines. I went off it and IMMEDIATELY all symptoms reversed...can't do it. Quality of life issues were seriously impeded. Additionally I could not defend the benefits--how much time will it add, and at what cost to living fully. I have been off a year and feel very well. It was given to me for double positive breast cancer. I also had OVCA and triple negative BC as well (small and no lymph nodes)...did I do the right thing? Well, for me, I made decision and am not looking back on it. I wish you the best...JANE
I am more on it been on it for quite a while now wondered if I should stop but found after last scan that there is no sign of cancer and I was told that along with the chemo these tablets helped kept it at bay still have got to anot her scan in three months but at the moment it's clearxx
No it was a tablet to help to suppress my estrogen level because I did not go through to have a debulkxx
You never had surgery xx
I had surgery but only to rid of tumour round the optimum as cancer stuck to other organs but last scan show no sign of cancer but to have scan in three monthsxx
