I never had a drink while on treatment as I didn't want any. I think a glass is ok but would question a few.

Hope your treatment is going well x

I had some wine. They did say avoid alcohol but I figured if they were pumping me with poison a few fermented grapes wouldn't hurt

Enjoy

Yes, I did - only ever a couple of glasses at a time, but didn't suffer from any side effects. My CNS said the odd glass wouldn't hurt.

I was told best not to for 24 hours beforehand and 48 hours after so I stuck to that but rarely had more than the one glass. No ill effects.

My mums onc said that a glass or so wouldn't hurt at all and reminded her that many years ago they would prescribe brandy for some ailments! X

I didn't drink when on treatment but onc said a glass wouldn't hurt x

a glass of wine with dinner would be okay but believe me you wouldnt be able for a second drink. I wouldnt chance it to be honest because your body has enough to cope with when on treatment.

I had two half pints of lager shandy with lime and was fine with that, but other than that haven't had anything. I would of thought a glass wouldn't do any harm, but don't overdo it. Xx

My onco said yes but obv not too excess. Most I have had is three small glasses of white as I was having a very stressful day. Had my second chemo today and had a glass of cider with my meal, and enjoyed it! Prob have about 5 units a week. My husband is currently in his 6th year of remission from stage 4 bowel cancer, spread also to liver and lung. Apart from the nights he has been in hosp he has three g&ts a night! His onoco and surgeon said to him "we don't know what you are doing Harry but whatever it is keep doing it"!!! I think he is so chilled out in the evening (never drunk) he simply has no stress, where as I sit there worried sick! Each to his own I guess!

I was told I could have alcohol. In moderation. I enjoy the odd glass or two of wine now and then. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻Xxx

Before my DX I was quite the beer drinker. I did enjoy my nightly few (or more) drinks while I relaxed from a stressful day. I am allergic to wine and don't care for the hard stuff, so beer it was. I say was because I don't drink at all now! I just don't care too and I don't enjoy the buzz anymore! Maybe that year of Dr's appt, surgery's and treatments and NO alcohol caused it. Kinda miss it, to be honest, but I can feel the benefits of not drinking now.

Yes my chemo nurses said it was fine to drink so I did and was fine, I continued my normal lifestyle and enjoy going to the pub with friends and I never had any ill effects. They said as long as I feel like it it's fine so I did! Cheers 🍻🍸🍾

In was told it would be ok but the chemo made wine taste unpleasant. I mever have much anyway as my body's got enough toxic stuff to deal with.

Hi, so glad you brought this up. I have been wondering if it's OK to have the odd glass. Hope you enjoy your meal. Sx

I drank while on taxol /carbo but my usual red tasted off. However I found g&t the most refreshing for my mouth. Like Lily Anne, I felt if I was being poisoned with chemo, a few drinks wouldn't hurt. Cheers 🍻 Carole H x

The information I was given at Christies was that an occasional glass of wine is no problem on carbo and taxol, in fact, they said that if you were struggling with a poor appetite, due to the effects of the chemo, that a small glass of wine could possibly help with improving it. I don't think for one minute they were condoning excessive drinking, but an odd one is fine, like everything it's moderation that counts. Enjoy a touch of normality xxx
