Hi. Your med team should be advising you as to whether you need the iron tablets or not. If you're having treatment then you'll definitely need to speak to them about whether you are taking any kinds of supplements.

Hi I asked my CNS about supplements eat and she advised not to take anything unless my oncologist says so!! I have kept to this advise.

Take care xx

Hi, I was anaemic so my oncologist prescribed iron tablets which I took throughout chemo, so they are certainly compatible with it, but check with your team first.

All the best,

Barbara

I agree with others' advice.... if your team say it would be helpful, just be aware that iron supplements can affect your bowels in a range of ways ( as can the chemo of course). I've recently finished a course of Spatone. Got the tip from Ovacome's Ruth. Very tolerable to take and effective, but I'm still really pleased to not need to anymore!

If you are on treatment always discuss the supplements with your team because if you fall ill, they wont know what is making you ill. That is the advice I got from day one. My onc doesnt encourage anyone to take supplement while on treatment. A friends oncologist allowed her take a supplement from Boots when her treatment was completed as Boots manufacture their drugs under supervision. Hope this helps you

Hello Dear One, first ask your doctor to do lab work to see if your are low in iron. If you are extremely low your doctor might prescribe iron infusion, nothing harsh and very quick and easy. Once that is done it is best to take an iron supplement that is Not sulfur based as it is hard on your stomach and can cause contipation. A good reference is your local vitamin shop or health food store. Vegan based is good too. The Lord bless you and may you know The Lord Jesus Christ.

You definitely should not take iron tablets unless you need them-ask for medical advice.
