Hi ladies well review out of the way still ned don't have to go back for 6 month

Just curious but do they take remission from your surgery and end of first line chemo

Just when reviewing stats it says how ever many years is that from diagnosis or initial treatment x

Hi Babs. As far as I understand it they take remission from when they can see ned. I have to admit I dont look at stats because they cant tell me what will happen to me, I am an individual (sounds a but like I am a person not a number lol). My last (current) remission is taken from my ned midway scan in August 2013 even though I didnt finish chemo until November (needed to make sure the little suckers were well and truly zapped lol). Obviously having said all that I may be wrong! So glad you are doing well. Kathy xx

Hi Kathy the stats don't worry me as everyone is different was just at review onc mentioned two years which was from last chemo as surgery wasent till end of first line then after surgery gave me another two cycles just in case any small bits left anywhere but it is three years in two months since dx

But either way am grateful have had this time ned as I remember thinking would not see Xmas the following year

I now have a target diary first in it was to see my son and his wife have a child my youngest granddaughter is two next month

Second one was visit lake Garda and Ireland went Lake Garda in Aug off to Ireland this month

Third was to see my eldest grandchild celebrate his 18 th that was last month

Next on my list is Spain next year with four of my grandchildren who have never been abroad

then the year after three of my grandchildren leaving school and proms twin girls in that so going be an expensive do lol

So too much in my target book to be taking stats too seriously

Take care

I always wondered that, in my case it started when I had my scan after the Op before chemo started and it showed NED, I asked my Onc because I noticed on my quality of life questionaire in Sept it said 36 months, if it had been from after the Op it would have been 37 and after chemo it would have been 31. I was on a trial so that might just be their protocol,

Take care

My oncologist has confused me on this topic of remission. My last two scans are NED but as I has a 0.5 deposit of dead matter left near my liver at surgery, I will never be in remission. The surgeon stated that he was in no doubt that chemo would zap that deposit, and clearly it can't be seen on a scan. When she said that I was so upset and lost my positivity. I've clawed my way up again but I'm am confused. X

All I am told is stable so I assume that it has neither grown nor dissapeared. I think my onc doesnt use the word remission for OC to be honest. But I am doing okay at the moment and that is the main thing have review end of November.

Mine doesn't use "remission" for OC either.

I asked about the timing and was told it was from the last treatment (eg last chemo dose) to evidence of recurrence (scan not just CA125 rise).
