Don't put things off...

Just wanted to show all you ladies the newest love of my life - Mishka my miniature Schauzer - I planned to get my first ever puppy when I retired but my diagnosis made me realise that I might not get there. I'm at the end cycle 2 of my chemo and you might think I'm mad to take on a pup while in treatment but I'm at home all the time and she's keeping my mind firmly off my illness and bringing me much joy. One thing this disease is teaching me is don't put things off for the future - do it now! and enjoy life to the full!!

Hi. Just prior to diagnosis we planned to move and get a dog... well we went ahead with both after all I wasnt dead yet! That was nine years ago and now our lab is old and grey, having several health issues of his own but Id definitely say keep going with your plans :) . Your dog is beautiful and I hope you have many happy years together :) . Kathy xx

We would love a dog in our family but we both work and we can't bring one in while that's the case. I have both ears open for any chance of a redundancy programme !!

Enjoy, Mishka looks adorable and I know will bring you so much joy

Take care

She's gorgeous ...and your story has made me think, I wanted to get a dog but was worried in case I might not be around for the whole of its life and my daughters are not in a position to take on a dog.. But maybe I'll go for it anyway xx

As long as you feel strong enough or have someone to help with walks go for it! I've gone for a breed that only needs short walks and ball plays. Good breeders will always rehome to a good home if necessary - indeed it's often in the puppy contract that you both sign! mine knows the situation and that if the worst does happen my daughter will either take on Mishka herself or contact the breeder to to arrange rehoming Xx

She looks really lovely. We have had a dog since my husband had a heart scare and was told to take gentle exercise. Our present dog is a Westie and has brought us so much joy as well as keeping us fitter! Good luck with the puppy training!

Good for you, Alibee! Very well said......I agree! Best to you and Mishka.......JudyV

What a lovely puppy, enjoy her you will have laughs plenty of them. My dogs have kept me sane through all of this. I however rehomed dogs that others didnt want because I felt it was the easier option, Last little guy I was fostering and fell in love, he is a cavalier king charles with plenty of cheek, my others are cavvies too but lazy lumps. I may have spoiled them I think??????

He is just lovely!

We too had our first puppy whilst I was in the middle of treatment. Beautiful Billy is by far the best decision we ever made. He is a gorgeous chocolate cockapoo and he has been a life saver for my family. He brings so much joy to us all.

I would thoroughly recommend it.
