Swollen ankle and leg

Has anyone else a swollen leg with ovarian carcino-sarcoma? If so, what do you do to relieve the symptoms? Apart from it looking a little unsightly around the ankle, the leg aches by the end of the day.

HI

I have the same problem in both legs/ankles to be honest, with the ankles being the worse bit. I was told it's because I had lymph-nodes removed. I have recently (after 8 years) been offered to go see someone at a clinic but to be honest I just wear trousers and live with it - I think probably because always having had 'chunky legs' I wasn't that bothered. I find that if I raise my legs slightly higher at night they are better in the morning and so the cycle begins. Hopefully others here might be more helpful, sorry! Kathy xx

My legs and ankles were swollen before and after treatment,in fact one leg just before surgery was double the size, glad to say it slowly reduced back to normal after surgery. The swelling that I have now is because of lymph node removal, lymph fluid gathers in lower legs and ankles, plenty of rest, legs up higher than hips,no tight socks, seems to keep it at bay.Good Luck Pxx

My leg is quite minor compared to that. The CNS said it may go away after chemo starts, which will be on Wednesday. I guess I'm focusing on the leg because it's something I can actually see. Oh for x-ray eyes!

I have a swollen thigh and docs say Lymphodema. Again as as result of lymph gland removal and can cause backlog of toxins building up in other lymph glands. I am being referred to the Lymphodema clinic. I have done some research and found that Qi Gong is really good for getting the lymphs moving, I started it tonight and it was great. I was however the youngest person at the class by about 25 years. Dry brushing is also very good. Rebounding is also great for the lymphs, I have bought myself a mini trampoline.
