I would suggest you ring the hospital ward you were in and ask their advise, or ring 111. Failing that take yourself to a&e.

HI Dottie, I would head off to Care doc or your hospital preferably where you had your op, if the area is red you could have an infection and need antibiotics but better to have it checked out.

Yes, it sounds like you should do as others have advised. Good luck with getting this resolved.

I had surgery in June n still experience some abdominal discomfort. In my case it was a total hysterectomy and removal of omentum. Doc said there can be some adhesions after surgery n this is normal. I was put on anti inflammatory n buscopen for intestinal spasms. My wound was the same as yours n did get red because of infection, so I was put on antibiotic which sorted it out. The wound is perfectly healed now. I would agree that you should get it checked out. Peace of mind is everything. Good luck.

Dotty I hope you've heeded the others advice and gone off to be seen. I had everything removed almost 4 wks ago via the same incision you have. I too got the swelling and redness on day 11 along with wound discharge and had to be re admitted with a bad infection for 6 days on IV antibiotics, back home now and still on them. The docs took no chances and neither did I so pls do get checked ASAP. Hopefully it's nothing but if it is the earlier its caught the better. Just to add, my wound has since healed beautifully so no lasting damage done.

That happened me first time around so when going back to get ovaries out, I asked for antibiotic cover and got it. I had to go back to dressing clinic every day after being on iv antibiotics to get wound dressed it took time but it healed well.
