Hi Honiton,
Yes completely identify with all of your symptoms am on Avastin too and although I don't feel 'ill' I am not myself , tired and horrible aching arms, don't have night sweats but have them in the mornings instead ! Have been sent to Rheumatoid consultant re arms because not sure if it's chemo/Avastin related but rheumatoid can't find anything ,oncologist did say can take eighteen months for side effects from chemo to leave .
I am sure they monitor your ca 125 when you are getting Avastin, so they would know if there has been an increase, Do get on to your Onc nurse or Maggie nurses if you are in the Uk for some advice. Do you see your consultant often? Tiredness and aches if you overdue it is part of the course with Avastin. Try not to worry but do of course get it investigated.
Hello. I would suggest that you ring your liaison nurse or oncologist - whichever is easier to get and talk to them. Or else, if you have a good GP - see him/her & some blood tests can be done, just to rule out other infections.

Cheers I am so glad your all here,I shall ring nurse tomorrow and again Thank you xx
I'm afraid Avastin can come with the side-effects you describe. I had back ache, aching joints and general fatigue. I think it would be good to phone your oncology department to speak to a nurse, or you could try the Ovacome Helpline which I found were more immediately accessible when I had a problem I wanted to discuss. Obviously they won't know your personal circumstances but I know they'd be able to give you some reassurance about the side-effects of Avastin and whether you should be booking an appointment to see someone at your hospital.
I found it helped to have some very mild painkillers morning and afternoon so I could get out and walk which seemed to ease the aches.
I had my Avastin every third week after chemo finished, and my hospital did a scan every 3 months as they said they go on imaging from CT or MRI scans and also on how the patients' feel rather than CA125.
I hope you get some reassurance today. xx sending love Annie
Thank you,I haven't had a scan since last May and I am having my last 4 avastin at 6 weekly intervals because of the side effects does that sound right?
i feel fine on avastin though it's not working - my CA125's going up. When I recurred my GP tested all sorts of things and found my thyroxin was low so I take tablets for that now. They don't think it's related to chemo or avastin but who knows ? It's very common. I also was found to have low calcium. so I take vitamin D too till the days get longer. Your fatigue may be avastin but it may be worth having other potential causes checked out. It's easy to think everythings due to the cancer and chemo but we still get the other stuff too
