Came back from holiday Monday to a letter saying I'm having preop today and laproscopic ovarian cyst removal Friday. I'm now nervous as anything and have so much stuff to get done. How long is recovery period afterwards? Work will put me off ten days minimum to start as I have a physical job.

Hi Samsperson. I had laproscopic removal of both ovaries and tubes plus omentom in November, I was home the next day. Had shower day after ( exhausting but felt so good ) I only took pain killers for first couple of days on regular basis, then as needed, the worst pain I found was in my shoulder so had supply of peppermint tea which was recommended by ladies on here. Slept in upright position for several days. Went for a slow short walk (10 mins) day three then gradually increased the time over next couple of weeks. You will need help, accept ALL that is offered and rest, rest ,rest ..NO lifting.. I was nervous before I had mine done but it was not as bad as i was imagining. Hope all goes well for you and wishing you good results and a speedy recovery
If you have a physical job I definitely think you should take longer off than the minimum. I think you should make uour surgeon aware as they can sign you off for six Weeks I believe. You may feel fine quite quickly but internal healing takes time and it is important not to overdo it post op.
Best of luck
Hope all goes well today will be thinking of you. Agree with greeningthegrey you will definitely need more than the minimum time off. Good luck x Jenny
