Caelyx rash: Started day 17. Now 2 days. How long... - My Ovacome
Caelyx rash
Mine got worse with each cycle and I am still, 7 months after my last cycle, suffering tjickening if the skin on my hands and deterioration of my nails. I did not have the last cycle because I was in hospital with septicaemia. I developed sores all over my torso back, hands and feet and bad mouth ulcers. Do get in touch with your CNS and get early treatment. On the plus side it shrank my tumours. I gave up bras for crop tops and showered with water only and less frequently (it was like standing under a stream of acid) I just wish I had asked for help sooner! Difflam and gel clair on prescription dealt with the ulcers!
Good luck
Margaret
So sorry to read how badly Caelyx has affected you, Margaret. Hope you soon recover. Thank goodness there was a good side to it all in that the tumours shrank.
Love, Solange.
Lovis, re rashes; If you've not done so already and it's still worrying you, I would check with the oncology line or what /whoever they instructed you to speak to re: the more severe side effects, as they are very concerned about developing sepsis on Caelyx. If a rash isn't going away, I'd double check. I only say this because they were very stern when they spoke to me about the more concerning side effects. I just had my 3rd infusion of caelyx/Carboplatin last week, today is Day 7 on the downward slide to the 'nadir' date (as it was described to me) and so far ok, apart from tiredness, a woolly head and an inability to focus on reading/TV, vague nausea and that disgusting taste, but I've noticed that I've had severe 'blushing' on my face the first couple of days each session, which calmed down before I felt I needed to be concerned about it. Good luck xxx
Hope you get some more helpful advice, Lovis. Hope, too, that the rash isn't too bad.
Love Solange.
Hello, As I posted a short while ago, a nurse friend recommended I take large doses of Vit E and B6 to counter any side effects of Caelyx (B6 is actually recommended on the blurb that comes with Caelyx) and I think this has saved me from almost no side effects after 5 months of Carbo/Caelyx.
I had dreadful reaction to just one dose of Taxol so it's not that I tolerate chemo well and Carbo stiffens my stroke-affected left hand and gave me tinitis.
I do urge anyone on Caelyx to speak to their hospital pharmacist. My onc. had no idea about vitamins but my friend who recommended it worked at a v prestigious hospital with a well known consultant.
Do hope it helps some of you.
V
Hello Veronique, thank you for your reply. Did you take the B6 and Vit E for all of the cycle each time i.e. the whole 28 days? Lovis xxx
