Hi had my flu jab whilst on chemo and over a few years in the same postion. Having read on the site that the Onc say it is not a live virus it is Ok to have it
My Doc was very impressed that I knew so much Ha ha. This site is always great for information.
Hi Barbara, thank you so much for your reply re the flu jab. It's just so many people keep saying are you sure you should have it, even thou I asked my Consultant and the Specialist nurse and they both said yes. I still didn't feel that confident.
Hi Sue. Ive always had the flu jab since diagnosis with no side effects. Oh and the pneumonia jab which is a 'one off'. Go for it, the flu vaccine is not a live virus so is safe to have xx
I had flu jab just first year i was diagnosed but following years i decited not to. Flu vaccine Contain lots of heavy chemicals and i though chemo is bad enough for my liver and organs. I was ok without flu jab for past 3 winters. If u not sure its very hard decision, i was same.
Tks for replying yes it is a difficult decision I have never had a flu jab before.
Regards Sue
I am having mine next week and then Avastin the following week, it is not a live vaccine so little or no side effects. Last year I missed getting because I was disorganised before chemo then my white cells went down and by the time they were up I felt the flu season was over and boy did I get a bad chest infection. So have made apt for mine. Wishing you well and hoping your treatment is going okay for you
I had my flu jab shortly after finishing chemo a couplep of years ago. Forgot last year. I'm on avastin maintenance 3 weekly now and was told to have it a week before the next dose. The last thing you need is flu just when you are getting over chemo or while you are on it. But can you check with the chemo unit that the timing is ok ?
