Back pain from avastin

Can anyone suffering from this tell me what pain killers they use to relieve this horrendous pain in my back. I have only had 2 treatments so far. Thanks.

Hi Bobalu. Sorry to read about your back pain, and only after 2 Avastin treatments. Did you try physiotherapy & acupuncture - both of which I found excellent. Now if my joints act up, I just go for 2 sessions of both and I am fine again for a few months.

I am also on pain killers (Lyrica & Targin), for all the pains, so most of the time I can manage.

Ask you Liaison Nurse about physio/acupuncture or check with the nearest cancer support group to you - as they can offer those services.

I found co codamol helped but that can cause constipation

You can always take a stool softener up to five times a day and I find that helps.

Anything with codeine will unfortunately give you constipation but that can be over come too. I dont get a lot of pain and would use paracetamol. But if it gets persistent, I take Naproxen until I can manage again. This too will cause the dreaded c if taken for more than a few days. I do have sinus issues, and foot pain which I was told is due to the Avastin. I soak my feet in a basin of water with epsom salts. You can also use that in your bath as well, very relaxing but to get the effect you must soak for twenty minutes.
