Hopefully after three lots of chemo they can operate and get everything out. She is soooo worried cos she heard radio program and the lady said she ended up in a wheelchair after the operation. Has anyone else got the same grade as mum ? Can you give me a bit of a heads up on it please? Thank you xxxx

Mum has been diagnosed as 3c high grade. She starts chemo trial Tuesday.
Hello
I was diagnosed 3c in August 2011. After surgery and chemo I have been in remission since Feb 2012. I know this is a worrying time, but It is good that your mum is starting treatment very soon. We all respond differently to both the disease and the treatment and you will hear stories and read statistics that frighten you. However, many women achieve good health again after treatment. I wish your mum the best possible outcome from her treatment. Sending you virtual hugs at this difficult time. Your mum is very lucky to have your support.
Love, Millie xx
Yes 5 years ago sounds like same treatment as your mum pretty standard, I dont think any one on our site ended up in a wheelchair? tell her not to worry sure all will be fine lots of friends here to advise and help you so keep tuned in. I was also 3c high grade.
Love to you and your Mum Jenny xxx
Yes I was also 3c high grade. Had surgery February 2012 followed by chemo. So far I've had no recurrence.
Best wishes to both you and your Mum.

Hi my mum is 3c. She's had debulking 5 weeks ago, first chemo 3 weeks ago (with 2nd chemo on Monday next week). She has recovered incredibly well from the surgery and had had barely and effects from the chemo except tiredness and hair loss. Try not to worry (easier said than done I know-I worried more than mom did!) - I'm sure all will go well xx
I was diagnosed with 3c in August 2011. Like your mum I had three cycles of chemo, then the op then more chemo. Finished treatment in January 2012 and so far there has been no recurrence. It is not very likely that your mum will end up in a wheelchair as a result of the surgery. Many people have gone on to run marathons, so please tell your mum not to worry. She will need to rest properly and it does take time to recover so make sure she doesn't try to do too much afterwards.
Love Mary xx
I was diagnosed high grade 3c/4 in December 2010. Being treated now for recurrence late 2013. I was never in a wheelchair and haven't herad of anyone else being in one after surgery
Hi,
I think the lady you mention that was on the radio, is a member on this forum, she is away on holiday at the moment for a month, but she has a slow growing cancer (low grade) that is complicated by other health issues, and also further complicated by the fact that she wasn't diagnosed early and was wrongly diagnosed, she previously had other operations, she did do a talk on the Radio in March for ovarian cancer awareness month, she was in a wheelchair but isn't now.
She is the only one I know that was in a wheelchair (I don't think it fair to mention her by name) if she was home she would explain this herself.
I don't know your mum's age, but this person is in her fifties with no children and had been ill for years, so actually was quite young having problems...there are many different types of of ovarian cancer and hers was a rare type.
So there is absolutely no need for your mum to be worried about being in a wheelchair I hope this helps.
Best wishes love x G x
I too am 3c, diagnosed in August 2012. Had the chemo/op/chemo 'sandwich' and now living my life since finishing chemo in April 2013. I recovered from the surgery amazingly quickly and once the chemo was finished my hair soon grew back. As previously said, we are all different but remember we are individuals and not statistics so try not to read too much, it doesn't help! This site is amazing so please keep us updated with your Mum's treatment and let us support you both.

Hi, I think everyone here has said it all and yes we are individuals and not statistics. I don't know the lady in the wheel chair but it sounds like she had other health issues. Cant say don't worry, but your mum will get through this and as others have said there is lots of support on here. lots of love JacJac x
Dear JacJac,
You do know her you just haven't figured it out yet ...LOL she did a talk on her local radio station.. but I thought it might be unwise to say who it is until she gets back but she posts and comments on here a lot and coined the phrase TLDR xx
Hi Gwyn, I really have not figured it out. Yet ! Am feeling a bit slow on the uptake. I am intrigued and just a bit puzzled but sure the clues will fall into place. Take care. love Jac. x
Hi, I am high grade 3b. I think your fabulous trying to help and reassure your mum. I too know of no one who ended up in a wheelchair just because of ovarian cancer. Sounds like your mum is going to get great treatment and lots of support from you. Ensure she rests, don't let her lift anything, not even the hoover for at least 6 weeks following her surgery. My white blood cells kept falling too low, so I started drinking green tea, I also took seven seas immune support plus vitamins every day and together they sorted it out. Remember to report any side effects to your mums oncologist at her pre assessment appointments prior to chemo, to enable them to help her. Good luck to your mum and remember to take care of yourself too. This is stressful on all in the family! Ann xo
Thank you to everyone who has replied. You ahve made me feel better and I will tell my mum what you have all said. I am so grateful to each and everyone of you who have taken the time to reassure me. You are fantastic people. Love to each and everyone of you. Love Louise xxxx
