Why does my ca125 continue to rise since my chemo was finished. Was 5.5, 6.6, 7.8 over the last 8 months?

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in November 2012, went through chemo, surgery, and then chemo again. I've been cancer free since July 2013, my ca 125 was 5.5 then, normal.

Hi! I was always told that anything under 35 on my CA125 results, was in the normal range. Mine varied from 5 up to 16 at various points in my five year check-ups. It can be affected by so may things....an infection, other hormonal imbalances, a cold. It sounds as if yours is following a normal pattern and is well within the safe range.

Good luck

As long as your CA125 level is below 35, that's normal. The lowest I got to was 21, mind you it was 1608 prior to surgery and chemo. Try not to worry a out it. Ann

Congratulations and God Bless

I don't think this is anything to worry about, it is fluctuating way below the level of normal.....it is when it rises over 35 you might have cause for concern ...but even then it doesn't necessarily mean you have a recurrence.

I wish mine was that low. 1800 at diagnosis then down to 29 after chemo surgery chemo. That was in 2011 and has never been there again. It's been 3 1/2 yrs and was 2900 in dec when I started my 5th line chemo and is now down to 290. Have been having taxol 3 weeks out of 4 since 5th dec so the results are great so far. It can change without there being a reoccurrence and my onc will not go off my tumour markers alone.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I just know the nature of this disease, so I know it will come back, I just don't know when. My cancer markers were directly related to to treatment.
