Can you have a CA125 of zero?

or maybe rephrase that...what is the lowest it can go to?

If it did get to zero would that mean there would no chance of recurrence as there would be nothing left to grow?

Seems a bit of a silly question really but made sense to ask you lot...some clever person will know.

Many Thanks x

hi sammy, my doctor told me everone has a ca125 of 5. i have been clear now for 12 years and get mine checked ever year. it is usually 8.hope this makes sense. love nanflo xx

Hi Sammy,

Yes, ca125 is a component of healthy blood; not anything to do with cancer. It is often (in about 80% ovarian cancers) over-produced by inflammatory conditions like cancer tumours and also in normal ovulation, periods and others, so can be a sign of problems if raised (over 35).

When mine went down to 5 or 6 the oncologist who saw me (male) said his was likely to be higher than mine!

Hi Sammy

Mine is usually below 5. That must be my natural (post surgical menopause) level as it has been the same ever since my surgery. Here's hoping it stays that way :-)
