Has anyone heard of Kevin Ellis the Bone Coach? He sounds like he knows a lot about osteoporosis and how to treat building strong bones. I'm considering following his program but would like to hear from anyone who has.
BONE COACH: Has anyone heard of Kevin... - Osteoporosis Support
BONE COACH
Hello! There was a thread started by Cardinalfan a month ago on this topic. A couple of us posted about our experience with the Bone Coach program. Please search "Bone Coach" at the top of this forum site.
I often start with looking at credentials. If I can't find them easily that's a red flag. And if they are totally out of sync with what they are promoting, it's also a red flag.
Things that don't sync well: bachelor's degree in business admin, sergeant in the Marine Corps. and a lot of business development experience (some in healthcare). So as I read that, I see someone who is creating a business opportunity. (If you read between the lines on his website, his backstory suggest that as well.) And a lot of his "Team" also seem to be focused on the business opportunity.
On the plus side, there are some people on his "Team" who are well-respected and have a deep scientific base (Sherri Betz, for instance).
The questions I would ask are:
* how scientifically-based is it?
* how much does it cost?
* are there options to get the same info?
I'd start with:
* Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation (formerly National Osteoporosis Foundation)
* American Bone Health
* Osteoporosis Canada
* anyone certified as a BoneFit instructor
* an RSVP Bone Builders program from your local senior center or council on aging
* a Tai Chi for Osteoporosis program
There are no "magic bullets" -- you still have to do the work.
I agree. I actually came across him too but found the information that he shared to have been taken from websites that we all have visited many times once we received our diagnosis. I’m not sure his credentials match what we are looking for and I personally stopped following him and now follow the science.
