Welcome, 1155Cat: You'll get some really good advice on this site. My advice would be to not let the doctors talk you into any of the bone meds....please research them before letting them give you anything...truly horrific side effects...and you will read horror stories on here regarding them.

Ugh 😩 they started me on Fosamax 70 mg 1x a week !!! I am going to research it right now !! Thanks for that information, I had no idea they had that many side effects !

Good girl! These doctors either don't know about the side effects...or they don't care....just be very, very careful. I was on Fosamax and after 2 pills...I was at a restaurant and ended up not being able to swallow! It was at the least very embarrassing and all the food in my mouth was ejected into a napkin! It was awful....that's when I started to research all of them. The infusionas (especially Prolia) are bone killing.....

Wow 😳 that is crazy ... with a new medicine and I always try not to read the side effects for about the first month I’m on them. And I made notes of any possible changes in me per say ... As far as I can tell so far on the Fosamax the only thing I can say is I have a few more headaches than usual.

Be cautious with the Fosamax! I took it for 7 months in 2005 until my jaw and hips began to ache. Then my husband told me of an article he read about a woman who had jaw necrosis from taking it. That was enough for me.

I'm amazed how long they continue to prescribe these harmful drugs.

😳😲πŸ₯Ί I have an article pulled up about the Fosamax ... soon as dinner is done I will be reading all about it !

I'm amazed also, Reese4! When are they going to take these meds off the market?????

I take vitamin k2 and D3 for bone health, I have arthritis in right hip from a previous injury...I remember years ago my mother took Fosamax and complained about the side effects and later quit taking it.

How much K2 do you take ?? I take 2000mg of Vit D3 already. I have been thinking I need to increase the D3 but will wait for blood test results to increase.

β€’ in reply to1155Cat

Hello Cat, I take 100 mcg k2, 5,000 IU of D3, from what I understand both are needed to support bone health and for the body to absorb it properly, this is from research I've done, my Doctor approved.

Thank you .. I will definitely go get me some !! Do you take any calcium ?

β€’ in reply to1155Cat

I don't currently take a calcium supplement because I think too much calcium can be detrimental, I eat foods with calcium and plain Greek yogurt...I'm never sure I'm doing the right thing, so when I see my doctor I discuss it with him.
