Gym equipment w/ weights
In regards to strength and endurance exercises, is it necessary to increase the weight with the gym equipment? If so, is there a calculation that determines the max weight I should not go over? Thank you

I would strongly suggest you have physical therapy if you are new to exercise. This can help test strength, endurance and flexibility. Also you will learn the correct way to exercise to avoid injuries.
Hi soccersummer, speak with your health care provider before you start a new exercise routine. They can refer you to a certified professional who can help you with your specific circumstances.
The key to progressive resistance exercise is that it is "progressive"-- increasing weight. I suggest working with someone who understands osteoporosis and has had some specialized training. (Probably not the 25-year-old personal trainer at the local gym.) They can help you to do the exercises properly and determine a maximum weight.
Check with your healthcare provider about any restrictions or limitations. And share that info with your trainer or PT.
Your healthcare provider may be able to suggest a professional. And many hospitals are affiliated with programs or have their own programs to get you started.
In some areas of the country, you might be able to find the RSVP Bone Builders program. Lay leaders lead classes focusing on strength and balance.
