Weight-bearing exercise

Have osteopenia and have been trying to prevent osteoporosis. My weight-bearing exercise had been using the elliptical trainer at the YMCA. I do not want to go back there now because of COVID-19. I have joint problems and plantar fasciitis, so I have been doing some seated exercises. Do they also count as weight-bearing?

I was told my an orthopaedic consultant that exercising with weights is better sitting down than standing because it focuses the benefit into a smaller area, so that increases the impact in your spine and hips rather than spreading down the legs. I guess it depends on the type of exercise though.

Thanks so much. That makes me feel a lot more confident.
