My mother (aged 78 years) has to stand for 1 to 1 ½ hour at the time of cooking foood in between 11 a.m to 12.30 a.m. She also walks from kitchen to bedroom 2/3 times while cooking. Now it is being noticed that both her legs (esp. in Fibula, Tibia, ankle and foot region) is swollen. For this, she takes Frumil (diuretic) tablet in empty stormach early in the morning. This swelling is continuing for a year. It is pertinent to mention here that that she doesnot suffer from any renal parenchymal (kidney) diseases and her serum creatinine is 0.8 mg/dl and urea 35 mg/dl. The venous droppler study of both her lower limbs (supine & erect) did not show any DVT or venous incompetence. Is the swelling of both her legs is due to osteoporosis? Does osteoporosis leads to swelling of legs?

No, osteoporosis does not make your legs swell. However, if she's on osteoporosis meds, that could cause it.
Hi smtamt. Again, please do not post names, email addresses or other personal information on this forum, for your and your mother's own safety and to comply with HealthUnlocked rules. thanks
The diagnosis of Osteoporosis itself does not cause swelling. However, if she has had significant postural changes, meaning rounded back (kyphosis) this can change her ability to expand the rib cage to take deeper breaths and also decreased abdominal muscles contractions that can assist blood return to the heart.
