Hello, I'm a 67 year old man with osteoporosis. i have been taking Prolia for it, but since I have started taking Prolia, I have muscle pains, and my doctor wants to switch me to something else. i wanted to know some other people's experience with other osteoporotic medications.

All medications can have side effects. Often those side effects lessen as our bodies become accustomed to the medication. Sometimes the side effects don't go away or are serious, so your doctor will switch you to a different medication that your body can tolerate better.

But this is true of all medications. My husband had to try 3 blood pressure meds before he and the doctor found the one that worked best.

The medications are almost always a better choice than the consequences of the medical condition that they treat.

It is useful to get input about meds from others, but all bodies are different. The final choice should be based on what works for your body.

Keep looking for the medication that works for you.

my doctor wants to switch me because the muscle pains were very painful and would not go away after two months of using prolia. i am meeting with him early next week so I will make sure to follow his suggestion for switching me to other medication.
