Had a gastroscopy yesterday and fortunately nothing was discovered with everything appearing normal. Obviously I'm very relieved that nothing awful was found but I still haven't found out what is causing my reflux pain and excessive burping. I am a month into using lanzaprozole and gaviscon advance and the discharge nurse said continuing that should resolve it.
I've decided I'm going to try going lactose free for a few weeks. My dad is lactose intolerant so it could be that. I've also got a discovery call booked in with a dietician next week to see what they can recommend. My thoughts are that if nothing structural is causing it then it must be what I am eating
Has anyone else gone lactose free and noticed any improvements in their acid reflux?

Hi, that's great news from your Endoscopy. I tried going lactose free and replaced milk with Soy milk. I would say there was some improvement, but my acid reflux is mainly due to Hiatas hernia and anxiety. If you find no relief from going lactose free, you could next try going gluten free for a few weeks and see if that helps. Good luck.
Thanks for your reply. My hiatus hernia (sliding 2cm) wasn't mentioned on the endoscopy report. I am already gluten free as I am coeliac. I haven't been glutened in a while so don't think it is gluten related. It could be anxiety related as I had a very stressful four months before all this started and worrying about the outcome of the endoscopy report won't have helped that either.
Hi, that's weird, my HH is 2cm sliding and I was diagnosed Celiac at the same time as Endoscopy (2015). I have been on Omeprazole and Gaviscon ever since then. It's not much fun being Celiac and having to avoid dairy makes it more miserable doesn't it. Hopefully your encouraging results will help your anxiety. Best wishes.
