Do you think you can ever recover or be cured of acid reflux or is it here for life? I had about nine months without it and felt like I'd got it beaten just with diet and Gaviscon but after nine months its back.

I think its for life ☹️. My own situation is a tablet daily, lost weight, changed my diet drastically and still suffer with it. Although symptoms not as severe, still have some if I miss the tablet.

Mine has been life long. For years it would come and go then as I got older it has remained constant. I have a weak lower oesophageal sphincter and that allows acid reflux to kick back and cause issues. A fundoplication operation was considered but due to my gastric issues and heart arrhythmias co existing it was decided it would, if anything, make matters worse in my particular case.

Pretty sure it's fo life. I have LPR (silent reflux) and had it under control for at least a year through diet control and other measures. But the crackling in my throat at night has been back for the past few months and refuses to go no matter what I do.

I have silent reflux too. It causes my mouth to feel burnt. I worry about the acid and my teeth. I seem to be able to get it under control for quite long periods but then it comes back with a vengeance and I can't tell what causes it. I find the burnt mouth very depressing.
